Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati, Oregon and Georgia all won major conference championships recently and earned key spots in 4 of the 5 upcoming, coveted BCS bowl games. Here is how their victories have changed my Top 25 Poll rankings for college football's 14th week.

(1) Alabama (13-0) – Beat Florida, last year's national champion, 32-13 to win the SEC Conference Championship and the right to play Texas in the National Championship Game. There is a reason why I have had Alabama ranked No. 1 for the last seven consecutive weeks. Now you know why;the Crimson Tide players are better than the Gator players this year.

(2) Texas (13-0) – Almost got upset by a tenacious Nebraska defense, but used 1 second left on the clock to kick to 46-yard field goal and win the Big 12 Championship, 13-12, and the right to play Alabama in the National Championship Game.

(3) Cincinnati (12-0) – Came from 21 points down to outlast Pittsburgh 45 - 44 and win the Big East Championship, and will face Florida in the Sugar Bowl.I like Cincinnati's high-powered, spread offense, and its unbeaten record, but not its defense. Then again, Florida's outstanding defense gave up 32 points to Alabama.

(4) Texas Christian (12-0) won the Mountain West Conference title, and will now face fellow unbeaten Boise State (13-0) in the BCS Bowl party. Marks the first ever BCS game with two mid-major teams.

(5) Boise State (13-0) – won the Western Athletic Conference title, and will now face unbeaten Texas Christian in the Fiesta Bowl.

(6) Florida (12-1) - Lost SEC title to Alabama 32-13, and lost the right to defend its national title game. Will face unbeaten Cincinnati in the BCS Sugar Bowl.Florida fans, please shut up.There is a difference between wanting to win, playing to win, thinking you are going to win, and winning.Z'nuff said.

(7) Oregon (10-2) - won slugfest against Oregon State 37 33 to win the Pac-10 Conference title, and a trip to the BCS Rose Bowl to face Ohio State. Played much tougher competition than Atlantic Coast Conference and even Big Ten teams.

(8) Ohio State (10-2) - won the Big Ten title outright, and will face Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Played much tougher competition than Atlantic Coast Conference teams.

(9) Georgia Tech (11-2) - Beat Clemson 39-34 to win the Atlantic Coast Conference title, and will play Iowa in the BCS Orange Bowl.

(10) Iowa (10-2) - Runner-up in the Big Ten with Penn State, but beat the Nittany Lions head on, and the Hawkeyes take their better defense to the Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech.

(11) Penn State (10-2) - Runner-up in the Big Ten with Iowa. Will meet Louisiana State in the Capital One Bowl, the next most prestigious bowl game after the 5 BCS bowl games.

(12) (9-3) - LSU Finished as runner-up to Alabama in the SEC West Division. Will face Penn State in the Capital One Bowl.

(13) Pittsburgh (9-3) - Cincinnati Gave all it wanted and more before it lost to the Bearcats 45-44 in the Big East title game. Will face North Carolina (8-4) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl game.Pitt should have merited a better bowl game.

(14) Nebraska (9-4) - Got little notice as the Cornhuskers struggled earlier in the year to find an offense that could win games. Darn near Texas upset for the Big 12 Conference title. Will meet Arizona (8-4) in the Holiday Bowl. This should be an excellent bowl game because these are two very worthy teams with much better than average defenses-Nebraska ranks 11th nationally in total defense, and Arizona 22nd among 120 major college teams.

(15) Oregon State (8-4) - Oregon Gave all it could handle in the Pac-10 title game before losing, 37-33.The Beavers are dirty, one mean team headed to the Las Vegas Bowl to face Brigham Young (10-2). It tells you something when a 10-2 team faces an 8-4 team in a bowl game. The Cougars had better make sure they bring their helmets to this one, otherwise, the Beavers might knock them silly.

(16) East Carolina (9-4) - Whipped Houston (10-3) for the mid-major Conference USA Championship, 38-32, and earned a trip to the Liberty Bowl to face Arkansas (7-5), the team absolutely nobody wanted to play in the SEC.Arkansas Georgia took to the max, beat Texas A & M, Auburn and South Carolina, and lost three away games to Florida, LSU and Mississippi, all by a single field goal. Yikes. This should be really interesting for East Carolina; There is no question it will be interesting for Arkansas.

(17) Stanford (8-4) - Could be the second best 8-4 team in the country. Played the 19th toughest schedule in its climb back to national recognition. Will face Oklahoma (7-5) in the Sun Bowl. Oklahoma might be the best 7-5 team in the country.

(18) Brigham Young (10-2) - Was runner-up to TCU in the Mountain West Conference. Will face Oregon State (8-4) in the Las Vegas Bowl.

(20) Utah (9-3) - Finished 3rd to TCU and BYU in the Mountain West Conference. Will California face (8-4) in the Poinsettia Bowl.

(21) California (8-4) - season's best candidate for the yo-yo award-had wins against UCLA, Arizona State, Arizona and Stanford, and huge losses against Oregon, Southern California, Oregon State and Washington. Will face Utah in the Poinsettia Bowl; two teams that deserve each other.

(22) Houston (10-3) - Lost to East Carolina (9-4) in the USA Conference championship game, 38-32, despite having the nation's most explosive scoring offense. The fact that the Cougars are relegated to playing Air Force (7-5) in the Armed Forces Bowl shows you what the people who really count think about Houston.

(23) Southern California (8-4) - The season's most surprising fall from power, losing to Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Stanford. The Trojans had at least 11 wins and BCS bowl game appearances for 7 consecutive years-the most successful football program in the country during the streak that was broken this year. Will face Boston College (8-4) in the Emerald Bowl.If USC does not beat Boston College, its image will take another major hit.

(24) Central Michigan (11-2) - Beat Ohio (9-4), 20-10 for the Mid American Conference Championship, and will face Troy ((9-3), the Sun Belt Conference Champion, in the GMAC Bowl.)

(25) No other teams impress me enough to even merit my 25th spot.Fill in your own favorite because it doesn't make a nickel's worth of difference to me.

This is not my last Top 25 Poll for this season. The next and final one will be posted after the National Championship Game between Alabama and Texas on Jan.7 Until then, enjoy the 34 bowl games

The religion of football

Here in Alabama, there are three kinds of people: fans of Alabama Crimson Tide fans Tiger Auburn and atheists. Two of the three will go to hell when they die. That two depend entirely on that ask.

Are called Alabamians who like football but do not have any special equipment, preference "agnostics." It is the faithful hope that one day these poor, pathetic souls will buy a jacket of Alabama or give a plug of Auburn and experience the joy of committing to a particular computer.Until then, are considered to be social outcasts and recreativos.A pray for them is that we can do.

Why all the religious references a column that is supposed to be about football? because religion and football are closely interlinked, my friend, far more in common can pensar.Tenga account this passage from the great guide of San Adanes, recently discovered in a dark basement on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The step reads: "And on the seventh day God created football and everything was right with the world... until Satan brought the referees..."

It is impossible to believe in college football without also believe in a higher power. Here in Alabama - and a lot of other places - football is a religion. For some, is the only religion.Blasphemy, you say?Creo.Oraciones more was said and answered during the match average college football in most churches during a month of the domingos.Esto explains why evangelists love to celebrate revivals in football stadiums. Mood has already been established. The Congregation has season tickets.

Consider this: Alabama has been a lot of national press lately due to two things:

(1) The quality (or lack thereof) of the University of Alabama football team and (2) morality is taking and battles legal libra by Alabamians on the separation of Church and State. Football and religion religion and football. And for us.

Playing God in Alabama offense are people as students of secondary school who walked out of class as a moment of prayer was not allowed by a test of matemáticas.Personalmente, I prefer to have my teens saying prayers in the classrooms of school who sing rap songs and riding around in heavy cars. I believe that these young people are limited, however. When I was in school we prayed before of each test, not only in mathematics.

Then is Judge Roy Moore, one of the captains team of God, if you want. Moore is the Alabama judge that has ten commandments plaque hung on the wall in her courtroom. The Supreme Court has ordered the Board to be decommissioned, but our beloved Governor FOB "I am the law in these elements" James, has said that we will send in the National Guard to ensure Board kept up. You can call this opting for the defence.

What opens another question: If Alabama secedes from the Union due to the oppression of the ACLU and NCAA, which makes FOB our King?If so, I think that it is more than enough reason to not be separated. King FOB. Sounds as a giant Gorilla with a voice, impediment is not the case.

Return to the present topic, I believe that football has become a religion reach more opinion is attested by the fact that still nobody tried to push a legal lever between organized religion and organized College football.Perhaps give account of how useless would be their efforts.Or perhaps only fears of divine retribution.I understand Bear Bryant and Shug Jordan were not men be crossed while here on Earth.God forbid some heretic, ACLU lawyer upset them now.

When the University of Alabama and Auburn play among themselves as did them the past weekend, the faithful drop everything you do and attend the game as sages chasing star distante.Todo State is todavía.Intente find a washing machine repairman or a medical emergency during a game of Alabama/Auburn.Son room be found by any parte.Usted may die in dirty clothes, but it is what you get for not attending the big game.

End of Iron Bowl this year was, as always, proportions apocalípticas.En final moments of the game, just before the famous Bell to indicate the end everyone's faith was put in prueba.Como marked clock down-... 5 6...4... 3... 2... 1...they were either devoutly to Alabama or completely gave his life to Auburn.

There was no "Atheist" section in these media.

Amen.

History of stands - What have retired From The Game - Janssen learned Nebraska Football players

THE BALLAD OF AN ANONYMOUS HERO

If you are a fan of devout husker, exit the tape of the 1972 national championship game with Alabama.Fast foreword to the last play of the first quarter and you will find Johnny Rodgers to galloping down the field to a courtyard 77 Nebraska.Observe touchdown carefully as forms of wall and "put 'em in the corridors" husker three defensive linemen out seven players of Alabama and Johnny spring for another of his famous runs.

But today is day of Johnny.Belongs to one of these three linieros.Su numbers were 55 and his name is Bill Janssen. Bill fails to finish this game because sprained an ankle in the second quarter.

Janssen arrived in Nebraska in Red River High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota. His father was in the air force Unidos.Bill States was a 6'4 ", pound 215 giant and learned his skills soccer in Texas in other air force assignment."

"When I moved to North Dakota, was out of interest in sports," recalled Janssen.Hockey was great sport and I didn't know anything about.

No problem.

Nebraska took notice of a very talented soccer player in hockeyland.Una Husker Carl Selmer coaches visit and Monte Kiffin, apart from a small arm twisting of brother Bill, Carl, who played football for the Air Force Academy took the easy decision. Bill became a husker.

One of his first memories of Nebraska Football was in a rookie at the meeting with coach Bob Devaney.

"Coach Devaney walked in the dressing room of the House and began asking lots of questions," said Bill.

"How many of the guys played on computers where won more games lost?" Devaney requested.

"Perhaps one-third of boys erected their continuation armas.A, Devaney wanted to know how many guys played on computers where they lost more games that won."Once again, went up a third of the hands. Then asked what a coach of high school who told us how many of us had was too bad we lost because we play so well?"All hands went up."

"" Well this bullshit, "told Devaney."His coach does not tell the truth.Football is a game of errors. When you make fewer errors than the other guy, you win. Eliminate errors in Nebraska. That is why we won in Nebraska. "

"But there was a time or two when you didn't win Nebraska.""" You'll learn even more from those days ", said Janssen." I remember that very long, flat ride bus home from California when UCLA below of the arm of Mark Harmon, beat us 20-17 in 1972.Fullback, McAlestar, flew just above me in a work where needed some large yardage to stay at ella.Doug Dumler and I were captains when our streak game 31 came to an end. "This was not fun."

"Your best memory is the second national championship against Alabama game."My best performance was that first fourth comeback against Alabama punt. I am very proud of what we did on this play.Kiffin told us that it might be available to us and sure enough, when provisions we arrive to and enabled Johnny Juice, fue.Creo who broke the back of Alabama. We were 13-0 to another national championship. That was a fun ride home."

Janssen was drafted in the eighth round of the by Pittsburgh but pro football was simply not as fun as a schoolboy he.

"Football takes a toll on you and was taking a toll on me," said Bill."Is time for me to proceed."

Its harder assignment came almost at the same time.He and his wife were expecting twins.Twin daughters, Monica and Heather were born three months premature.Heather only survived during a day.

"Had only 24 and treated," said as a softness has over their eyes."Clear is that his daughter Heather took much of his father's heart special elsewhere."I committed to be the best father I could be

"If they meet Bill Street, probably wouldn't know about his football days.""" Not driving with that"said.""I even thought long and hard envelope if I do this," he said as he makes note of the large ring of gold in his right-hand with large red stone and a diamond in the centro.Es 1971 national championship ring.

"Is large, and some would say, a little sad, but taking into account the bruises and broken bones, I guess I've earned the right to usar.Me imagine that I will always be proud that I was anonymous heroes one Nebraska."

In fact, you are a hero, Mr. Janssen.De done you are.

Mark Ingram is the Crimson Tide only Heisman Trophy winner for the University of Alabama (Center)

Mark Ingram is the only Heisman Trophy winner to quit football team of the University of Alabama (Center) in spite of the storied football history school based Tuscaloosa, Alabama Crimson Tide. Mark Ingram won the first Heisman Trophy of the University of Alabama on December 12, 2009. Curiously then not students won the award for the early years of 72 aired Ingram became the third second consecutive win award after Tim Tebow from the University of Florida in 2007 and Sam Bradford from the University of Oklahoma in 2008.

The University of Alabama started playing college football in 1892 and in more than a century of game football program has accumulated an impressive résumé achievements. The most prominent achievements is 13 national championships with the latest from one on January 7, 2010 in a victory for 37-21 on the University of Texas at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.La production of 44 players all-American consensus, winning 26 Conference titles and occurs in 31 postseason Bowl victories all speak volumes of the calibre of play at the University of Alabama.

The consistent track record of success team exhibited by the Crimson Tide makes more peculiar to that school has never had a winner of the Heisman trophy by December 2009.The Heisman is commonly accepted to be the most precious individual award all the Universidad.Durante football 75 years the Heisman Trophy has been awarded annually to the nation's top college football player.
For a football program as Alabama to just one recipient of the prize, while other institutions hallowed as the University of Notre Dame, Ohio State University and the University of California southern all have seven each is rather surprising to most sports fans.

Earlier Mark Ingram ensure Award for the Crimson Tide eight players school in nine occasions had finished runner-up in the top five vote.
Nine players are:

Joe Kilgrow (1937) finished 5th at running backHarry Gilmer (1945) finished 5th as running back Harry Gilmer (1947) finished fifth at running backPat Trammell (1961) finished 5th quarterbackLee Roy Jordan (1962) finished fourth as a linebackerJohnny Musso (1971) finished 5th as running backTerry Davis (1972) finished 5th as quarterback David Palmer (1993) he finished 3rd as a wide receiver Jay Parker (1994) finished 5th quarterback

While the University of Alabama football fans involved mainly win championships if they all support or not people that joy in Crimson and grey are grateful that the Heisman Trophy drought was finally brought to an end thanks to Mark Ingram.

Kim, the author of this article, it is expected that when Mark Ingram signed its first NFL one of their first purchases could be the University of Alabama golf bag .Antes being selected as the number one overall 2010 NFL Draft Sam Bradford, the second winner of the Heisman Trophy which immediately preceded Ingram, saying the University of Oklahoma golf bag was something that looked forward to buy one of their first purchases to be paid by his new contract for the NFL.Los fan whereas the possibility of purchasing a golf school-themed bag are encouraged to remove links in the previous two sentences.

(Editor's Note: All rankings used in this article are from the AP Top 25 Poll and all team ratings used are from Sagarin, the gold standard among rating services.)

In the world of college football there are pretenders and contenders. Nine of AP's Top 25 teams and 3 of the top 5 were given a reality check over the weekend.

Was I surprised at this annual occurrence? Hardly. When you start analyzing how some of the teams started the week at 4-0 and ended it at 4-1, it is as easy to see as your face in a mirror. Reality has a way of revealing all of the wrinkles and weaknesses.

For openers, there are the No.3 Oklahoma Sooners who lost a Big 12 Conference game 27-24 by a last second field goal in Colorado to the Buffalos. Oklahoma dropped to No. 10 in the Top 25.

The Sooners got to their lofty No. 3 ranking by beating No. 170th rated North Texas, No. 145th rated Utah State, No. 58th rated Tulsa and No. 44th rated Miami (FL). Their offense ran up big scores on everybody, but their strength of schedule was only the 100th best in the country.

Urban Meyer and his defending national champion Florida Gators fared no better. They lost 20-17 by a field goal at home to Auburn in a SEC Conference game. Florida was behind 17-3 going into the 4th quarter.

The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Gators who suffered their first home loss under Urban Meyer. Meyer's team had won 18 in-a-row at home, 17 since Meyer took over in 2005.

The Gators got to their No. 4 ranking by getting the best of No. 110 Western Kentucky, No. 85 Mississippi, No. 77 Troy and No. 32 Tennessee, an SEC opponent. Beating Tennessee is what vaulted Florida up in the rankings. Florida dropped to No. 9 in the rankings.

No. 5 West Virginia ran smack into No. 18 South Florida in a Big East face-off in South Florida and lost 21-13. Coach Jim Leavitt and his South Florida Bulls are quickly becoming the team no one wants to face, and THE story of the college football season.

West Virginia dropped from No. 5 to No. 13 in the rankings while South Florida moved up from No. 18 to No. 6.

West Virginia got to its No. 5 ranking by taking down No. 129 Marshall, No. 94 Western Michigan, No. 74 East Carolina and No. 51 Maryland. Mountaineer fans who expected West Virginia to go undefeated this year and win the national title need to regroup.

No. 7 Texas got really found out and embarrassed at home against Kansas State in another Big 12 game as the Wildcats dumped on the Longhorns, 41-21. I have been questioning Texas' stature since the beginning of the year, and now my suspicions have been validated.

Texas got to 4-0 by defeating No. 162 Rice, No. 100 Arkansas State, No. 73 Central Florida and No. 54 TCU. Particularly telling was Central Florida, which Texas beat by a field goal while giving up 32 points. Texas, who is rated No. 25 by Sagarin, dropped to No. 19, a much more realistic place for the Longhorns to lounge.

No. 10 Rutgers, the darlings of the Big East, were upset at home by Maryland 34-24, and dropped to No. 21. I believe Rutgers will soon drop out of the Top 25 as two 5-0 teams in the Big East-No. 20 Cincinnati and unranked Connecticut--are being overlooked.

Rutgers rose to No. 10 by whipping up on No. 208 AA Norfolk State, No. 142 Buffalo and No. 68 Navy. Good grief, talk about a lame schedule. They deserve what they get.

Sagarin rates Rutgers at No. 38; even that seems high to me at the moment.

No. 11 Oregon played host to No. 6 California in a Pac 10 matchup and led 14-10 going into the 4th quarter but the Bears scored three touchdowns in the last 15 minutes to put them away, 31-24.

Worse yet, the Ducks' Cameron Colvin scored what appeared to be the tying touchdown in the final seconds but he fumbled and the ball went out of the end zone, giving California a touchback and a victory when the play was reviewed. Duck fans in Autzen Stadium realized the errant play may have cost them a national championship down the road.

Oregon dropped to No. 14 in the Top 25 and California rose from No. 6 to No. 3.

No. 13 Clemson traveled to Georgia Tech and saw its dream season begin to unravel as the Yellow Jacket defense held the Tigers to a field goal in winning, 13-3. Clemson dropped to No. 22.

The Tigers got into the Top 25 by handling No. 154 AA Furman, No. 133 Louisiana-Monroe, No. 87 North Carolina State and No. 21 Florida State. Clemson rose in the standings by beating No. 21-rated Florida State 24-18 in its opener.

Sagarin rates Clemson No. 34, no where near the Top 25. Clemson could drop out of the Top 25 in a heartbeat.

Joe Paterno's No. 21 Penn State Nittany Lions started the season at 3-0 before losing to a rejuvenated Michigan in the Big House, 14-9, and now loses his second Big 10 game to Illinois 27-20 at Illinois.

Going on the road in Big 10 Conference games has suddenly become hard for Penn State as it dropped right out of the Top 25.

Again, Penn State started its season by running up scores on the worst Division 1-A school in college football, No. 171 Florida International, the 7th worst team in Division 1-A, No. 142 Buffalo, and the apparently hapless No. 95 and winless Notre Dame. What were those fans in Happy Valley thinking? A national championship? Think again.

No. 22 Alabama was the 9th of the Top 25 teams to lose when first year Coach Nick Saban and his Crimson Tide paid a visit to Florida State and lost 21-14. Alabama dropped right out of the Top 25 after arriving just a week earlier. Sagarin now rates Alabama at No. 39.

I thought Saban might have kept Alabama rising; I now have to readjust my expectations for the Crimson Tide.

And so the nasty 9-Oklahoma, Florida, West Virginia, Texas, Rutgers, Oregon, Clemson, Penn State and Alabama-all fell but the No. 1 USC Trojans managed to escape by barely defeating Washington at Husky Stadium by a field goal 27-24.

USC committed 16 penalties, threw 2 interceptions, lost a fumble and suffered a blocked punt and yet prevailed to retain its perfect 5-0 record. The 2-3 Washington Huskies are not exactly a powerhouse yet are rated No. 27 by Sagarin, not too shabby.

By being so unimpressive, USC slipped to No. 2 as the LSU Tigers took over the top spot.

LSU blew past No. 144-rated, in-state rival Tulane, 34-9, after ripping apart No. 57 Mississippi State 45-0, No. 28 Virginia Tech 48-7 and No. 125 Middle Tennessee 44-0. LSU's best win came at home against No. 17 South Carolina 28-16. Sagarin rates LSU No. 1 in the country.

Only one other game really caught my attention and that was No. 9 Wisconsin spotting Michigan State 34 points and then winning by a field goal at home. The Badgers rose to No. 5 among the Top 25.

I still think Wisconsin is not that good. Sagarin rates Wisconsin at No. 24. The Badgers still have away games at Illinois, Penn State and Ohio State, then host Michigan. After those 4 games I doubt Wisconsin will be 11-0 going into their last game at Minnesota.

Teams in the Top 25 start losing at this point in the season because they purposefully schedule weak teams early on to give their players confidence, rise in the Top 25 rankings, give their boosters hope, and bring attention to their programs.

Once conference play starts, the messing around is over, as the nasty 9 found out over the weekend.

College - football Look Out SEC - Alabama recruitment rates 1 as Saban prepares to go to war

If you think football in the Southeastern Conference is just a game that generates a ton of money for the schools and the NCAA that regulates it in a highly publicized environment, you do not understand what success is about in the SEC.

SEC games are not battles between teams, they are outright warfare with a fight to the last man standing won by heavy artillery (talent). That is why Wednesday's (2-6-08) first day of signing letters of intent by high school seniors was so significant. According to several analysts, Nick Saban and Alabama ranked No. 1 with the nation's best class of talent.

Among Rivals.com Top 50 prospects, Alabama picked up No. 4 Julio Jones, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound wide receiver from Foley (AL); No. 28 B. J. Scott, a 6-foot, 195-pound wide receiver-super athlete from Vigor (AL); No. 30 Tyler Love, a 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive lineman from Mountain Brook (AL); No. 34 Jerrell Harris, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker from Gadsden (AL); and No. 35 Alonzo Lawrence, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound defensive back from George County (MS).

Add to that distinguished list No. 55 Mark Barron, a 6-foot-2, 202-pound athlete from Mobile (AL) and No. 60 Barrett Jones, a 6-foot-5, 271-pound offensive lineman from Memphis (TN), and no school in America had 7 of the Top 60 Rival.com prospects except Alabama.

Southern Cal had 6 in the Top 60, Ohio State had 5 and Notre Dame had 5. Notre Dame's recuiting class was rated No. 2 by Rivals.com, Ohio State's No. 8 and Southern California's No. 10.

Nick Saban, the highest paid college coach at about $4 million a year, earned his pay. Saban was able to sign 7 of the top 11 prospects in Alabama. Auburn did not have a single recruit among Rivals.com Top 100 prospects; the Tigers came up sucking pond water.

Look for Saban and the Crimson Tide to start a concerted march to a higher place as a current Division 1A powerhouse and national title contender. Should the Top 60 picks stay injury free and reach their potential on the college turf, they will most certainly be playing in the NFL on Sundays.

If you are not stoked about Alabama football you need to live in another state.

Three other schools catch my personal attention because I have ties to Washington, Arizona State and Michigan State.

Ty Willingham's Washington Huskies had the highest Rivals.com pick among these 3 teams with No. 57 Kavario Middleton, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end from Lakewood (WA). Middleton was joined by his teammate, Jermaine Kearse, a 6-foot-2, 175 pound wide receiver.

Washington also signed Everrette Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive end from Burien (WA); Alameda Ta'amu, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound (yes, 330 pounds!) offensive guard from Seattle; Allen Carroll, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound offensive guard from Oakland (CA); Chris Polk, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back with 4.5 speed from Redlands (CA); and Jordan Polk, 5-foot-10, 170-pound wide receiver with 4.46 speed from Portland (OR).

Washington's catch is being called the best recruiting class since Reggie Williams and Charles Frederick in 2001.

The Huskies also picked up some speed with linebacker Kurt Mangum (4.59), cornerbacks Adam Long (4.45), Anthony Gobern (4.4) and Justin Glenn (4.5), safety Johri Fogerson (4.55), and running backs Demitrius Bronson (4.5) and David Freeman (4.4). Let me be the first to dub Kurt Magnum as Magnum P.I. (Personal Intimidator) and Demitrius Bronson as Death Wish Bronson.

All of this comes as a surprise as Ty Willingham, unlike Nick Saban, does not have a rep as a recruiter. The fact that redstart freshman quarterback Jake Locker started last year and impressed almost everyone with his agility, speed and savvy probably did not hurt a lick.

Scout.com rated Washington's recruiting class as the 14th best among the NCAA's 119 Division 1A schools. Look for the Huskies to finally win more games than they lose next year. If they do not, Willingham may be looking for another job.

Scout.com rated Dennis Erickson and his Arizona State Sun Devils class as the 17th best nationally. Among Erickson's top prospects was Jack Elway, none other than the son of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway.

Jack Elway has his father's arm but apparently not his speed. Nonetheless, he comes from an excellent gene pool. In addition to his dad, his mother Janet was an outstanding college athlete as a swimmer for Stanford University.

Here are two facts you may not know about John Elway. 1) He may have played football at Stanford University but he was born and raised in Port Angeles (WA). 2) He had 47 career game-winning or game-tying drives in the 4th quarter, an NFL record.

Mark Dantonio and his Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater, Class of 1966) did not fare as well as Washington or Arizona State. Other than any local coverage in Michigan and a little among Big Ten teams, the Spartans received zero national attention.

That tells me they ended up with the short end of stick, and that is indeed bad news.

Dantonio knows that Jim Tressel and his Ohio State Buckeyes are only going to get better; Dantonio was the defensive coordinator for Ohio State's undefeated (14-0) national championship team in 2002. Tressel also won 4 Division 1AA national championships at Youngstown State, and his won-loss record as head coach at Ohio State is a stunning 83% (73-15).

If Ohio State is not enough competition for Michigan State, Michigan will cause the Spartans headaches as well since Rich Rodriguez left West Virginia to coach the Wolverines next year.

Michigan has won more games than any other team in college football history, and now along comes Rodriguez, who spent 7 seasons at West Virginia compiling a 60-26 record (69%) with 4 Big East titles.

Rodriguez, 1 of only 2 Hispanic head coaches in Division IA football, went 32-5 (86%) his last 3 years at West Virginia. Rodriguez is great for Michigan; for Michigan State he is two legs and bad news. The Spartans may get the snot kicked out of them by Michigan for the next 5 years.

I am praying that Dantonio can find a couple of nuggets among the scrap heap of players that are left over after all of the good programs have used up their scholarship allotments. The Spartans need talent and speed immediately, they do not have nearly enough at the moment.

The justified enthusiasm among Crimson Tide fans at Alabama does need to be tempered by the knowledge that recruiting is not an exact science. While we know that the sun will come up tomorrow, we do not know how these recruits will play out.

What we do know is that coaching can make average players better; Rich Rodriguez is an example. His recent West Virginia recruiting classes were rated mid-30s to mid-50s yet he led the Mountaineers to 2 BCS bowl wins in the last 3 seasons, and he came within 1 win of playing for last year's national title.

We also know that a position player like a quarterback, who touches the ball on every play, can make a team much better. An example this year was Todd Reesing of Kansas who led the Jayhawks to a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl victory. Reesing was rated a 2-star to 3-star player by the rating services (5 stars is best) yet he became a 5-star player when given the opportunity to do so.

Since many of these kids will become redshirts (meaning they will not play their freshman year) and become redshirt freshman (like Jake Locker of Washington) when they start playing their sophomore year. It may take all of 5 years to determine who among the many players just signed will become tomorrow's stars and NFL draftees.

In the meantime, I will be praying for Mark Dantonio and my Michigan State Spartans. I view myself as an important intercessor as the Spartans have continued to disappoint in recent years. Wherever they have been I do not want to go.

Future odds, predictions and Alabama Crimson Tide 2010 preview

The Crimson Tide finished in the top of the world football last year with a victory over the Texas Longhorns in the BCS National Championship game. Nick Saban team must replace 10 starters on defense, so will be the new faces in the field. The good news for fans of Crimson Tide is the depth in Alabama is enormous, and many people believe that defense this year will pick up right where you left off last year.

Preview of the offensive of Alabama

Mark Ingram is back after winning the Heisman trophy last year, and fully hope to have a great season this year. According to 5Dimes, Mark Ingram is displayed as the favorite Heisman Trophy this year at + 380 to take home the honors. The offensive of Alabama will return eight of its 11 starters. QB Greg McElroy had no assume games last year, but the work involved managing the game was tremendous. McElroy finished the season with 17 passes touchdown and four interceptions. Expect Saban appeal to McElroy to bring him to air more often this year as it continues to gain confidence in the young quarterback.Julio Jones is one of the recipients more talented in all football. It was plagued by injury last season and still caught passes 43.Sus numbers must climb much this year. While it is easily forgotten due to the large Ingram, Trent Richardson is a surprising return which will contribute in a big way this season as well.

View previous defensive Alabama

Usually a unit that lost many of their incoming cannot be expected to be one of the best in the country, but this is not a normal computer. Last year's largest losses are Terrence Cody, Rolando McClain and Javier Arenas. Can young people and help pass defense don't miss a beat?It is the question of Alabama $ 1 million this year. There will be a ton of talent in the field for this unit, led by Dont' Hightower and Mark Barron.Los rugidos around of college football are that many of the young players to Saban is ready to plug this defence are ready for NFL athletes. The Crimson Tide were ranked second nationally in defense last year. I think that it is very unlikely that this group can maintain as high a ranking, but will be very good.

Alabama question marks

This is the preseason team not. 1 for almost everyone, so not too many question mark, but there are definitely a pair. The Crimson Tide are greatly in need of a reliable kicker.Leigh Tiffin won several games last year with his foot, but is gone, and require that someone step up.

Outside of Mark Barron high school could be a bit of a young cornerbacks problema.Necesitará safeties intensify a hurry, or a team with a solid quarterback might hurt them.

Likelihood of future 2010 Alabama

The Crimson Tide are definitely highly thought of by the oddsmakers going into this season, and who can blame them?Alabama currently quoted on + 425 to win the BCS Championship for college football future probabilities 5Dimes, which makes them the favorite. what happens with the odds of SEC? The Crimson Tide listed in-170 to win the SEC West and + 125 that general SEC champion.

Schedule 2010 Alabama football - games key

Programming football 2010 Alabama is a potential minefield. The Crimson Tide will match the State of Pennsylvania in their second game of the season. The Nittany Lions should be down some this year, so I don't expect this to be a big problem for Alabama.El game on September 25 in Arkansas is the first game on the schedule that will be extremely telling as to how to sustain this Alabama.Ryan Mallet defence is one of the best quarterbacks in all football, so high school of the Crimson Tide should be ready for an air strike in éste.El plan also has a key with LSU Baton Rouge the first weekend of November party.

Predictions 2010 football Alabama

I do not blame the oddsmakers or bit of one of the experts to Alabama the favorite to win the BCS title this year, but isn't cakewalk to repeat actual.Creo that there is a good chance that Alabama lose to Arkansas environment or final carretera.Al LSU is a computer that has both talent and nobody in football, but the lack of experience them perjudicará.Creo that you fall just a little less than a second national title directly.

Former Alabama Football coach Paul "bear" Bryant & his great achievements

Football of Alabama Crimson Tide is enriched with a number of great tradition coaches over the years and has produced a series of great players that have greatly affected the NFL. None of them can compare to a coach that changed the face of college sports, and is Paul "bear" Bryant.

COACH PAUL BEAR BRYANT

Bear Bryant began his career in Alabama as a football player in 1931. It was only 1934 final national championship game.Brian always joked that he was the "other side" who played for the "mamma".the other end was the legendary NFL Hall of Fame, Don Hudson. Even having Bryant college playing days, showed the mental strength and play the game against Tennessee 1935 with a broken leg.

As head coach, Bear Bryant had several University jobs such as Maryland, Kentucky and Texas A & M before it finally had to return to his alma mater, the University of Alabama jump trainer. It therefore encourages was Bear Bryant, famous he was quoted as saying, "called mama.Y when MOM calls, you just have to come Runnin '."

Crimson Tide took over as head coach of the year Bryant and began to lead her glory last Rose Bowl-style but reached heights yet more high. production of players such as Joe Namath, Pat Trammell, neighbouring Billy, Big John Hannah, snake Stabler, Lee Roy Jordan, Johnny Musso, Bob Baumhower and many others.

Certainly Bear Bryant was a huge motivation and knew how to make their football players to do what he needs to do. Florida A & M coach, Jake Gaither said Bear Bryant, "he can take his'n and defeated you 'n, and he can take your' n and beat his'n." The inspiration was not only in the field, carried out by the character instilled in his players as large Croyle of John, who started the Big Oak Ranch children faith based turbulent in Springville, Alabama real-life inspiration.

Last year, who coached Alabama, 1982, was a year down to Alabama and Bear could not see himself as coach of Alabama in mediocrity.Always said that if he resigned as coach him "not lasts one week."Today, he not takes much more than that, only 37 days.January 26, 1983, Bryant died of a heart attack at age 69 and many mourned his death.Public officials estimate that range from a half a million to a million people were lined up from mile stretch Tuscaloosa 53 Park memorial in Birmingham was mere blocks from the Legion field.

The legendary man who changed the world and Alabama

Heritage of bear lives are now growing older players and fans who remember her campeonato. No heart only helped to shatter the segregation in the South of the world of football and in doing so, helped establish the State of racism the gloria. No only that changed the world a better place that he left izquierda.Nunca been ain't nothing but a tide ganador.Rollo!

Week 1 - college football Brigham Young, Boise State, Alabama and Oklahoma State are big winners

Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request
Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request

(Editor's Note: All of the team rankings for this opening article are based on the Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll, and the Sagarin Ratings, Jeff Sagarin's factual, mathematical ratings among competition between all 245 Division 1 teams. There are 120 Division 1-A teams (also known as FBS - Football Bowl Subdivision - teams), and 125 Division 1-AA teams (also known as FCS - Football Championship Subdivision teams). Why the NCAA had to make referring to 1-A and 1-AA teams more complicated is beyond me; let's just say it was really unnecessary and leave it at that.)

Brigham Young, Boise State, Alabama and Oklahoma State were college football's biggest winners in the opening week of the NCAA season.

No. 20-ranked Brigham Young (BYU) used a late 4th quarter touchdown to upset No. 3-ranked Oklahoma, 14-13, and all but obliterated Oklahoma's hopes for a dream season. The Sooners, who lost to Florida 24-14 in last year's National Championship Game, returned the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner-quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford strained his throwing shoulder in the closing seconds of the first half on a hard, clean, highlight-reel hit by BYU linebacker Coleby Clawson; Bradford watched the second half from the sidelines. Bradford's backup, Landry Jones, could not get Oklahoma's offense moving enough to protect its 10-7 halftime lead.

BYU quarterback Max Hall was 26-of-38 for 329 yards and 2 touchdowns. Yes, Hall did give up 2 interceptions and he was sacked 4 times, but when it counted, he led the Cougars on a 16-play, 78-yard scoring drive that broke Oklahoma's back.

After converting on a 4th-and-4 play from the Sooners' 29 yard line, Hall completed a 7-yard TD pass to a wide-open McKay Jacobson in the back of the end zone with 3:03 remaining. BYU's victory was huge, not just because Oklahoma was ranked No. 3, but also because the Cougars won on the road.

There is no way on God's green Earth that Oklahoma should be ranked No. 3 in this week's poll, and Brigham Young should most certainly be ranked higher than No. 20.

Some fans may blame Sam Bradford for not generating enough offense in the first half because Oklahoma led the nation in scoring last year with 51+ points per game. However, Bradford did not give up BYU's go-ahead touchdown-the Oklahoma defense allowed the score, the same defense that ranked 58th in scoring defense last year.

There are reasons why Oklahoma lost the national championship to Florida last year, and the biggest reason was the Sooners' scoring defense-they were a whole lot better on offense than defense. Sooner fans do not want to accept this, but that is their problem.

BYU's victory would have gotten even bigger press if were not for No. 14-ranked Boise State's most excellent 19-8 victory at home over No. 16-ranked Oregon. The Broncos shut out Oregon in the first half, 13-0, and then made it stick in the second half.

Oregon won the sucker-punch contest thanks to the Ducks' out-of-control, 1,000-yard-plus senior running back LeGarrette Blount slugging Boise State's Byron Hout after Boise State's win, but the Broncos won the contest, and the bragging rights.

Blount was kicked off the Oregon team for the rest of the season. He has run his last handoff for the Ducks, and quite possibly blown away big bucks and an NFL career opportunity. After throwing his sucker punch, Blount apparently also slapped a teammate. Unfortunately, on his way up, Blount has apparently not figured out that mugging and thugging are street activities, and not part of college football.

Neither team played well, but the Broncos made an early-season statement about the state of the mid-level conferences.

Entering their games, both BYU from the Mountain West Conference, and Boise State from the Western Athletic Conference, are rarely mentioned in the same breath as teams from the 6 major conferences that get automatic bids to the 6 major bowl games, which includes the National Championship Game.

The 6 major conferences include the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Big Ten, Pacific 10 (Pac-10), Big 12, Big East, and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Last year Utah from the Mountain West Conference ran the table with a perfect 13-0 record, and was not even considered as a worthy opponent for Florida in the National Championship Game.

Utah promptly trashed Alabama 31-17 in the BCS Sugar Bowl, and a one-loss Oklahoma got the face Florida. Oklahoma's 45-35 defeat came at the hands of another one-loss team, the Texas Longhorns, who were beaten by Texas Tech 39-33 on Michael Crabtree's great last-second TD catch. The Longhorns were upset that they were not selected to play Florida for the title.

After going 12-0, Alabama lost to Florida 31-20 in the SEC Championship Game, and then never got over it, losing badly to Utah. Had the Alabama Crimson Tide been given the chance to face Florida Gators, they would have done better; the Crimson Tide viewed Utah as half an opponent, that was Alabama's mistake.

Apparently No. 5-ranked Alabama has now recovered as the Crimson Tide rolled over the No. 7-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies 34-24 Saturday at home, scoring 18 points in the last quarter to seal the deal. The game was huge as it is rare when two Top 10 teams face off in a season opener.

The No. 9-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, who went 5-0 last year as a home favorite, picked up a great victory at home against the visiting Georgia Bulldogs, 24-10. Top ranked teams must beat other top ranked teams to climb in the polls, and Oklahoma State did just that, scoring touchdowns in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters as Georgia's offense sputtered, and its defense gave up too many points.

Now let's review some blowout victories by Top 25 and unranked teams over cupcake opponents just collecting a big paycheck for an expected defeat, and hoping they do not suffer a lot of injuries before going into league play:

No. 1 Florida by 59 points at home over 1-AA Charleston Southern, ranked 201 among 245 teams by Sagarin, 62-3.

Air Force (ranked 55) by 72 points at home over 1-AA Nicholls State, ranked 176, 72-0.

Arkansas State (ranked 119) by 61 points at home over 1-AA Mississippi Valley State, ranked 237 among 245 teams, 61-0.

Southern Mississippi (ranked 65) by 52 points at home over 1-AA Alcorn State, ranked 232 among 245 teams, 52-0.

Fresno State (ranked 71) by 51 points at home over 1-AA UC Davis (the University of California at Davis), ranked 146, 51-0.

Houston (ranked 66) by 48 points at home over 1-AA Northwestern State, ranked 178, 55-7.

Vanderbilt (ranked 54) by 45 points at home over 1-AA Western Carolina, ranked 182, 45-0.

I am personally ignoring any Top 25 or unranked team that played a 1-AA school and did not win by at least 45 points. Let some other media give them ink.

Here are some good wins by Top 25 and unranked teams:

No. 4 Southern California (USC) by 53 points at home over San Jose State, ranked 109, 56-3.

No. 12 California by 45 points at home over Maryland, ranked 45, 52-13,

No. 23 Notre Dame by 35 points at home over Nevada, ranked 77, 35-0.

No. 24 Nebraska by 46 points at home over Florida Atlantic, ranked 112, 49-3.

No. 25 Kansas by 46 points at home over Northern Colorado, ranked 198, 49-3.

Baylor (ranked 85) on the road over Wake Forest, ranked 30, 24-21. Phil Steele has Baylor as his No. 11 Most Improved Team for 2009. Phil Steele's College FootballPreview has been the most accurate preseason magazine the last 10 years. The Baylor Bears were 4-8 last year. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons went 8-5 last season, and beat Navy 29-19 in the EagleBank Bowl.

Missouri (unranked by the AP and Coaches' Polls but ranked No. 18 by Sagarin) on the road over Illinois (ranked 63), 37-9. Phil Steele had Illinois as his No. 1 Most Improved Team for 2009.

Buffalo (ranked 115) on the road over Texas-El Paso (UTEP), ranked 101, 23-17. This game gets my first week attention for two reasons. One, UTEP was Phil Steele's No. 5 pick as the Most Improved Team for 2009. Two, Buffalo was a doormat for so many years, but no more. Last year the No. 12-ranked Ball State Cardinals were 12-0 when they played the Buffalo Bulls for the Mid-American Conference Championship, and were beaten by Buffalo 42-24, as the Bulls claimed their first ever conference title and earned a trip to the International Bowl.

Idaho (ranked 164), another perennial loser in recent years, on the road over New Mexico State (ranked 144), 21-6. The Idaho Vandals are getting better (they were 2-10 last year), and any Vandal victory should be cause for a huge party-down afterward.

South Carolina (ranked 31) on the road over North Carolina State, ranked 58, 7-3, in the lowest scoring game of the first weekend. South Carolina scored a TD in the 1st quarter, gave up a field goal in the 3rd quarter, and held on to win a very tough, non-conference away game. The Gamecocks victory was even sweeter because Phil Steele had the North Carolina Wolfpack as his No. 6 Most Improved Team for 2009.

So the scorecard on Phil Steele's Most Improved Team picks the first week was at least 1 on (Baylor) and 3 off (Illinois, North Carolina State and UTEP).

North Texas (ranked 165) on the road over Ball State, ranked 81, 20-10. North Texas has been another troubled program in recent years (the Mean Green have not been so mean, racking up a 1-11 record last year), so any victory should be cause for a big hoedown with a pig pickin'.

Southern Methodist University (ranked 135) at home over 1-AA Stephen F. Austin, ranked 189, 31-23. SMU gets ink here because the Mustangs have been one of the worst teams in the nation in recent years (1-11 last year), and any victory should be recognized because head coach June Jones had spectacular success at Hawaii before bolting to SMU for more of everything.

Here are some really unimpressive wins by Top 25 and unranked teams during the first week of play:

Topping the list is No. 19-ranked Utah's home victory over in-state rival Utah State, ranked 131, 35-17.The Utah Utes were 13-0 last year; the Utah State Aggies were 3-9.

No. 2 Texas at home over Louisiana-Monroe, ranked 127, 59-20. Dude, the Longhorns should have done better against last year's 4-8 Warhawk team.

No. 6 Ohio State at home over Navy, ranked 59, 31-27. The Buckeyes were outscored 13-11 in the 4th quarter by the Midshipmen, who went 8-5 last year and lost 29-19 to Wake Forest in the EagleBank Bowl. What is it about Ohio State Buckeyes that every year they are given a pass in the final rankings? The Buckeyes lost to Florida 41-14 in the 2006 National Championship Game, lost to LSU 38-24 in the 2007 National Championship Game, and lost to Texas 24-21 in the 2008 BCS Fiesta Bowl.

Face it, man, the Buckeyes are weak. Would you believe Ohio State was 6-6 against the spread last year, and a paltry 1-4 against the spread as a home favorite? No wonder they have fallen out of favor with the betting public.

No. 11 LSU on the road over Washington, ranked 80, 31-23. This game could have easily gotten away from the LSU Tigers. The Washington Huskies, winless last year at 0-12, are much, much better this year under new coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Nick Holt. Take away an errant pass that led to a 29-yard touchdown by LSU's defensive unit, and a 45-yard Tiger TD pass and catch with a missed tackle that Husky free safety Greg Walker misplayed on a one-on-one, and Washington wins the game, 23-17.

Get this: Washington ran 83 plays to LSU's 48, out-gained the Tigers 478 yards to 321, and 11 Husky drives went beyond midfield and into Tiger territory. Washington hosts Idaho this Saturday; the Idaho Vandals had better be on top of their game.

No. 22 Iowa at home over 1-AA, in-state rival Northern Iowa, ranked 83, 17-16. The Iowa Hawkeyes were 9-4 last year with a 31-10 win over South Carolina in the Outback Bowl. The Northern Iowa Panthers were 12-3, nevertheless, the Hawkeye performance was weak.

Where the season Never Ends football

Unless it is steeped in history and tradition of football in South could get the impression of television, radio or newspapers that the football season is starting. Those of us who have followed South since before Football NFL considers appropriate to locate one of its teams further south than the nation's Capitol knows better.

With the end of the football season start would end, and of course, isn't así.Permítanme offer a few tidbits of information in case of raised at a place where playing hockey, really is considered an alternative to soccer or when the end of the baseball season is more important than football school Thursday night.

In the North and the football in the South are completely different things. In the North you get tickets at the stadium ten minutes before the kick of cars.in South puts his name on a waiting list of ten months before the party, pony up a second mortgage on the trailer for the booster club and Lee obituaries looking for an opening. There have been divorces, and murders, tell me about who owns really family season tickets.

If a good boy Alabama graduate marries a belle son of a lawyer or Auburn graduate OLE Miss and married the daughter of a farmer in Mississippi State we call intermarriage. Weapons are not supported in family get meetings.

Parking at football games also illustrates the differences. Northwards, the University opens campus for a couple of hours before game time parking. In the South school sports cars flags arrive on Wednesday and begin to configure smokers.

Tailgating only means something more in the South.Tailgating foods North consists of sausage grill or perhaps a beer with lime and avocado sandwiches all served on a portable picnic table. In the South, a smoker of custom pig 30-foot-shaped fires up at dawn.Cooking Contest is the only activity that even begins to rival the game of football winners will want their trophy buried with them and something like "Best kitchen Hog" on their tombstones.

At the universities of the North still participate in archaic, the homecoming queen plays field hockey on and is specializing in women's studies while in the South could well his homecoming queen being a future Miss America.En Stadium North and vacuum campus shortly before the band ends his medley of classic halftime show tunes. In the South when the game is about another rack of ribs in the fumador.Alguien makes a drink cold running, every game of the just concluded contest is discussed, and planning begins for next week's game.

It is of course also differently to confront the classes of the game on Thursday night ESPN.Northern students and professors may missed the game because classes the viernes.En southern teachers cancel classes because even if really, a couple of students come to class will be blocked more.

Football season lasts all year, passing game to recruit practical spring to investigations by the NCAA to the practice of the preseason and return to the juegos.En South of football season will never be long and that's okay with me.

Your guide to Penn State vs. Alabama game weekend

The first game of the Penn State football season in 2010 is the game in Alabama in Tuscaloosa September 11. It is a dream match not only for Penn State fans, but for fans of Alabama a college amateur football in general. Not only are these programs floors, has a lot of other intriguing components - legendary coaches, very good equipment, impressive uniforms and major conferences.

If you have scheduled trip to this game, and if you're a true fan of Penn State probably you are, we have some of the critical information needed for weekend game in Alabama.Hemos talked to some sources in Alabama (both Center SEC than road trip there and fans), and part of the information you need to get the most out of this fantastic trip.

First, you must obviously entradas.Penn Alabama State entries will be one of the most difficult of tickets for the State of Pennsylvania games for long time. If a large time donor Club alumni of power, then, you can already be receiving your tickets through the University, but for the rest of us are not, fortunately there are other options.

We recommend strongly looking online for your tickets Penn State game vs. Alabama. The most popular to get tickets today place tends to be eBay, but there are also many specialty tickets for school parties or entries Penn State game sites and other online auction sites. If you search enough, usually can find the right type of seats for you, depending on your price range, the location of the headquarters or other important factors such as a parking pass.

Then on trip weekend game Center, you must decide whether to set its base camp in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. We would recommend Birmingham for mainly due to the quality of the presentation. There is a way of quality in Birmingham than in Tuscaloosa hotels. Please note that B'ham is about 45 minutes of Tuscaloosa (where is the University of Alabama), and has many, if not more to do than T-ciudad.

So if you are in Birmingham, you know then what remains to be done during the weekend. The simple answer is: South of Birmingham! This is the part of the city to hit for fun and madness, many restaurants and bares.Se will hear people talk about hitting the part of the City Gallery, and okay, but slightly more generic and not as a unique experience as Southside.

Once gameday, of course you'll want to tailgate trasero.Desde time of game is not until 6 pm, there is not much time, but we recommend heading out to Tuscaloosa thing that morning.Take a long time to arrive with traffic and want to get a good place parking for tailgating.Por therefore does not plan to leave b ' ham at the last minute.

Arriving at the T-ciudad aspect to the Park on the streets, patios and lots on the South side of the estadio.muchas houses in this area is rented student houses and will allow you to park for something as well as $ 20. works well and will put you close to the action.

Predictions of college football 2010 - Alabama

Win consecutive titles in the BCS will be an easy task for Alabama Crimson Tide, but is not out of the question when one considers the history of coach Nick Saban. The tides are under Saban, 26-2 two seasons, including a perfect 24-0 during the regular season. Saban proud to assemble teams play dominating defense and dealing with offensive football. In spite of a rather conservative guidance, Alabama still averaging 32.1 points per game in 2009 (22 at the national level), and the number you should upload this season. Mark Ingram Heisman Trophy winner is back, along with star wide receiver Julio Jones and quarterback Greg McElroy exceptional game management. After losing so many starters, you may not see the same defence classified is not. 2 at the national level in points allowed and yards allowed last season, but the caliber of Saban recruiting classes suggest that we will still see a very respectable unit. The level of experience may be down, but the talent level is above.

Offense - Ingram returns to lead the offensive of yards rushing 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns a season ago and defenses won't get no chance to catch his breath when juego-ruptura backup Trent Richardson explains it. Because the defenses will have to respect this so duo, must open really things for McElroy through air. McElroy threw for 2,508 yards and 17 with only four interceptions in 2009 scores. Four of these touchdown passes was deep threat Jones, who must be prepared for a great season after battling injuries last year. When the box computers, McElroy stack has knowledge to audible to pass teatro.También works I hope that you tide to be dangerous in the play-action due to how much attention game opposite defence shall pay the running game.

Half of defence - security Mark Barron, Dont Hightower Linebacker'a and defensive end Marcell Dareus are leaders in their respective defensive units. Barron makes works all over the field. He is the team return to tackler (76), and also received seven past a season ago. Hightower suffered an injury in the end of the season against Arkansas, but made a full recovery. It should be the heart and soul of defence Rolando McClain how was the last temporada.Dareus was the victory of Alabama on Texas defensive MVP BCS Championship game. Arrived with 6.5 sacks last season, and that number should be enhanced in 2010.

Prediction - Western sec 1st - Saban continues to lead in top notch talent, and this is not outside of the sphere of the possibility of your computer to record their third straight perfect season regular.La offense must be better than it was a season that makes, so if the defense can reload as expected see reason why Center should not win the West.College football odds makers have listed Alabama Crimson Tide in + 600 to win my predictions 2010 football championship BCS.Retirar SEC to see how the Conference any way I like to.

Forbes proclaims Alabama Nick Saban the most powerful coach in sports

What is the most powerful coach in sports today? Nick Saban Alabama, according to the magazine Forbes (question 9-1-08). Forbes does not waste time in anoiting Saban as the best of the best and ahead of the rest when it comes to being the most powerful sports coach in our time.

Although God-fearing, rabid fans in Alabama recognize Saban is not God, they think, indeed, is a God in the sense that he is a being superhuman having power over fortunes human, namely, the Crimson Tide.

Distinguishes what Saban, stature as says Forbes, is that Saban 8-year, $ 32 million contract gives you a complete and absolute control over all aspects of Alabama football programa-reclutamiento, training, management companies and relations public. no other any other sport coach enjoys an advantage, if actually become an advantage.? Time will tell.

Until it becomes evident success, Saban contract also has some very special advantages as 25 hours for his private use of an aircraft of the University, two cars and a number of members of the club field, all the extras that make your annual compensation package closer to $ 5 million per year. You can also leave school at any time without financial penalty, a rarity in contracts coaching college dealer.

His contract remains among the highest of his first year at work, and his contract is larger than all but a handful of coaches in the NFL.

Coach, according to Forbes, may not match combination of Saban money, control and influence, and includes all the coaches profesionales.Basta leagues with say Saban and his agent, James e. Sexton, know a thing or two about how to negotiate an exceptional professional contract.

Alabama can afford the luxury of Saban.El program generated Crimson Tide football 52 million dollars in revenue last year (Yes, college football is BIG business), and had an estimated $ 32 million in winnings. Yikes, is of great benefit. How you would like to run a business that generates value of $ 52 million in revenue and has a 61% profit.?

Taxpayers in Alabama also can relax so already not a hundred Saban contract is paid by the student or the taxpayers money, everything comes from the University, which also finances 77% of the Athletic Department, including nonrevenue, production of sports football program budget.

It is Saban which has been tabbed to lift the fortunes of Alabama to the years of glory the Crimson Tide experienced under Paul "bear" Bryant, who won 6 national championships and SEC 13 campeonatos.Cuando Bryant retired in 1982, Alabama football success had a dramatic fall in national prestige.

So much impact does Saban had after his freshman year?Well, the team spent 7-6 and defeated Colorado in Independence Bowl.First spring Saban practice game drew 92,000 fans (who read it right). The waiting list for season tickets tripled to 10,000 of the arrival of Saban.Su recruiting class this year was qualified as not.1 at national level by a consensus of tracking services.

Saban is a control freak (all but closed Alabama football practices and personally authorize all interviews with the players and coaches), but it is also very successful in what hace.Él resurrected football in the State of Michigan (of squat to a 9-2 in 5 years with 4 games bowl season) programs and the State of Louisiana (a record of 48-16 in 5 years, 5 bowl, SEC 2 games titles and one national championship) before to ' Center.

President of the University of Alabama, Robert Witt, is very good with everything what happens in your program been deportivo.Ha 100,000 donors to recent capital $ 500 million campaign University, many of whom are ardent football fans.

Then, how to do this year Alabama? probably very bien.Con Saban, also occurs in the field or nursing splinters in their rear riding banquillo.Nick Saban hopes to gain, not occasionally, but increasingly bloody.

That is very difficult to do in the SEC, but by 4 million dollars a year to learn how to outthink, outwork and recruit their adversarios.Saban has some talent that is coming, and there is nothing better talent talent shows to play.

Alabama Crimson Tide - a College Football dynasty

Alabama Crimson Tide has been a University football dynasty for years. Alabama is known to always be one of the teams at the forefront of college football. From the day of Paul "bear" Bryant for the current year 2010. It doesn't matter because it is always a team to be considered a factor in the national title game almost every season. Alabama is one of the most talked about & adorned of football in the history of college football programs. Alabama football program began in 1892. From that moment the Crimson Tide has listed 13 national championships. Alabama currently plays in the SEC Conference & was also a former member of the South Conference(So-Con).

Bear Bryant had coached the Crimson Tide since 1958-1982. During his tenure, Bryant won 6 national titles. His record as a coach during those years was an enormous 232-46-9. Paul "bear" Bryant is probably the best coach in the history of Alabama. Stadium(Bryant-Denny) team is named in his honor. The most dominant for coach Bryant was between 1970-1979.During this time that Bryant won 8 titles of Conference & 3 National Championships. Also brought 13 titles of Conference & 11 WINS Bowl. The off-season 25 spent in Alabama Bear Bryant lead the school to 24 bowl games. This is the good. The pretty darn endgame coached Bryant came in the Bowl of the freedom of 1982.His last match was another victory by defeating the Illinois 21 - time 15.Una retired from college football, unfortunately, too coach Bryant had died 4 weeks after a heart attack.

Once Bear Bryant left school Ray Perkins took over at the helm. The first year of Perkins was solid with a 7-4 record with a victory in the Sun Bowl over SMU. However, a sophomore was one not remember. The Crimson Tide was 5-6.This is the first losing season tide in 28 years. Perkins followed with successful seasons until he decided to leave the program for the NFL & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bill Curry, then took 3 winning seasons before leaving for due to stress with the academic Department of Alabama.

From 1990-1996 Gene Stalling was head coach. Tide was 7-5 in the first season with a loss of Bowl game to Louisville. The following season was a great. Alabama was 11-1, with only a loss to Florida. Tide defeated Colorado in bowl of Blockbuster 30-25. Stalling out successful seasons until he decided to retire after the 1996 campaign. There was a spot darkness during training days in Alabama aunque.Alabama was forced to abandon 8 victories of the 1993 season. This was due to a previous player (Antonio Langham) violated NCAA rules. Had signed the previous year, which is a violation of the rules with a pro sports agent.

Since the late 1990s Alabama has been through a few head coaches. Frank DuBose assumed from 1997-2000.There were three seasons solids, including a Championship sec 1999.Sin embargo, with high expectations in the year 2000 the tide had a record of 3-8. After the 2000 season DuBose was replaced by Dennis Franchione. Its mandate was short with only 2 years at the helm despite that he take to school to win seasons both years. Franchione Alabama left A & m in Texas.

In 2002, Mike Price was introduced as head coach in Chief. Its mandate was even shorter, was dismissed in the middle of a scandal after only one year.Mike Shula(son_of_former_coaching_great_Don_Shula) too in coming in 2003.From 2003-2006 Shula compiled a record 26-23, including a season 10-2 in 2005.In 2006, the team struggled with a record 6-6.Este Shula cable being fired. In 2007, Alabama hired coach Nick Sabin the famous & well conocido.Desde assume the Sabin program already it has won a national championship in 2010 by defeating Texas BCS.Hasta Championship game time in three seasons Sabin has a record of 33-8 with an SEC & more nacional.Muchos Championship could be come with this great coach.

All-time College above national football team

As the calendar page turns into August, the thoughts of sport in question time country University football fans.

And why not. With rocking scandals pretty much any other sport - College football stands out for its good, clean the competencia.Tiene personifies what should be of all sports.

Of course, several national surveys are coming out with your opinion that is the number 1 on the controversial issue will be tierra.Y College football team discussed around thousands of water coolers for the next five months at least.

Before we enter in the frenzy of the College football season (can't wait), this could be a good time to take a step back and dispassionately explore the theme of which was the best team in football University in history.

That was the best team ever is undoubtedly a debatable issue. But as a fan of the SEC, I have a strong opinion. And I think the answer is easy:

The 1961 Alabama Crimson Tide was never the best University team football.

The team was led by the legendary coach Paul "bear" Bryant. Course "bear" eventually became in, perhaps, the best football college coach ever.Among many accomplishments, their teams won 15 championships of Southeastern Conference (SEC) and six national championships.

However, his team in 1961 was the first.Five more Championship teams will follow his footsteps. However, the 1961 team opened the way for the rest.

The 1961 Alabama Crimson Tide an undefeated (11-0) and was crowned as the national champion of indiscutible.Con numerous national polls at the time, was very unusual to finish the season as the "undisputed" national champion.' 61 Crimson Tide made.

However, the really amazing thing about this team was his defense.Had outscored their opponents 297-25! nobody scored 7 points against the defense of Crimson Tide ' 61 and, indeed, six opponents could not score in absoluto.Ellos beat Tennessee 34-3 and finished the season defeating Arkansas 10-3 in the Sugar Bowl.

The team was led by Billy neighbors offensive lineman and linebacker Lee Roy Jordan (both in the Hall of the fame of the Football University); as well as QB Pat Trammell (the Heisman Trophy finalist).

Taking into account the legend of Bear Bryant; undefeated record the undisputed national championship; surprising defence; the fact were "the first" in a long line of Alabama champions - is easy to see why the Crimson Tide in 1961 was the best team in college football history.

See you at the water cooler.!

The University of Alabama vs LSU football

This weekend, one of the biggest games of the season carried out among leading companies sec 7-1 LSU Tigers square off with 8-0 Alabama Crimson Tide with consequences for the national title. Who wins this one Florida could face in the Conference Championship and win a place in the national championship game. This game is great and should be seen if you are fond of college football.

The SEC has formed to be a three team race now that only Florida, Alabama and LSU remain top 25.Florida leads this Division sec easily and LSU and Alabama is neck and neck in the West.

Nick Saban will have its tide Crimson ready to play in the East. Bring in one of the most talented lists in college football. Many people believe that they should be the number one in the country team and have played great ahora.Running back Mark Ingram is one of the best in the country and Greg McElroy quarterback has been great. His defense is one of the best in the country and LSU will have their hands full trying to pass or run against them.

LSU, Les Miles is also not one to shy away from great games. His team has played well throughout the season with the sole exception is the loss to the Florida Gators. In this great game, I leave Tim Tebow and the Florida defense them closed. In regards to winner of college football takes go they are hoping for a better offensively as they scored only 3 points against the Gators.Los Tiger players output this week have been waiting for this game for redemption since he lost to the Gators. You can expect a big game in the SEC in éste.Equipo could walk with the inside track to the SEC championship game
