Alabama football: "First class" end of the season of tide

Alabama coach Nick Saban called romp of Capital One Bowl of his team on the Michigan State "principle first-class performance" to end.

It is likely he did not use the same description for red tide season.

Alabama delivered a sharp reminder of what had been declared the favourite to repeat as national champions. The team that manages Saturday 49-7 scourges of Michigan State seemed rather than the 2009 version of the tide.

"We wanted to finish the season on the right track," said Saban. "It was the only opportunity we had left to define this team and show had the heart and the type of a competitive nature to finish".

Mark Ingram, Julio Jones and Marcell Dareus juniors actions provide a look to center it could well be the next season if the stars return instead of heading to the NFL. All three are projected as the best selection of round one.

"Is a difficult decision," said Ingram, the winner of the 2009 Heisman Trophy. "It's a decision that changes the life". "I will go and talk with coach Saban and reunited with my family and things so next week more or less and try to make a decision on what is best for me."

Ditto for Jones, who record Alabama a season with 78 receptions for 1,133 yards. "I will talk to my family and my coaches and we will go from hence", said.

Ingram scored two touchdowns to break record for career of Alabama Shaun Alexander, giving him the 42 in three seasons.

Jones scored on a back of 35 yards and caught three passes for 49 yards. Dareus had a sack, two tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. It is classified as a possible top 10 pick.

Senior quarterback Greg McElroy will leave to go 24-3 as a starter. After its end, Saban called it "one of the greatest ambassadors that can never be a University".

Left tackle James Carpenter and tight end marked Preston are older people, but most stars at least have the option to return.

This includes security Mark Barron, who lost the game with a torn pectoral muscle, linebackers Dont' to Hightower, Courtney Upshaw and C.J. Mosley and tailback Trent Richardson the All-America.

A lot of young defensive backs also return. Upshaw, certainly seemed a rising star in the last two games, when the Capital a Bowl MVP had collected five sacks and three fumbles.

And Saban got a lot of points in a season when he had to replace nine defensive starters of teaching. Tide looked dominant team when demolish Florida 31-6 October 2, but lost in South Carolina. Alabama fell to LSU by three points on the way and finished the regular season blowing an advantage of 24 points in a loss of 28-27 to not. 1 Auburn.

"We had not put two halves together." When we do this, there are not many teams who can beat us, "said Ingram."

"Only we who are capable of doing when we played our best football." "This demonstrates how fragile a season."

Saban wasn't surprised his team had some growing pains.

"We knew we were going to have a young team is this year and the thing was most proud of these guys improved throughout the year and we have matured far to get better and better and better", said Saban. "There were only four or five plays that would have made a difference in this season compared to what could have achieved this team, and I believe that maturity will help this team in the future."

"I think the leadership that will come from the lessons learned from this season will be beneficial to this team in the future."

Once three junior stars announce their decisions in the next two weeks, the main focus at the battle of field marshal. "redshirt" freshman A.J. McCarron emerged as McElroy backup by the previous season championship game even though he was not needed, then.

He completed all six passes for 51 yards against Michigan State.

Freshman Phillip Sims was one of the signatories of the tide prize a year ago.

McCarron not discount the possibility that the loser of this battle will another school.

"It is certainly possible, I think, but that is not nothing in my mind," said after the game. "I am going to be a leader, will take this team and this role as if it is my team." When we reach the spring us we are hitting the ground running. "I have already spoken with recipients, it held a meeting with Dont'a, we are going to get everything back to the form in which the summer when we won."
