Alabama football recruiting: Brent Calloway said that he had received death threats by change of the commitment of the red tide to Auburn

It is mid-June 2009 when Brent Calloway gave his word to Alabama coach Nick Saban.

It was going to play for the red tide a day.

There were only two more seasons of high school to wrap in Russellville, when he would head to Tuscaloosa.

Two years it, it is a long time to stay committed to school when the staff never ends. Calloway, a perspective of five stars according to Rivals.com, officially changed opinion 18 months after making the initial decision when he announced on Saturday that intends to play to Auburn instead.

As recently as December, Calloway said the TimesDaily in Florence (Alabama) its commitment to Alabama is solid. The reaction to his change of heart was far from positive and they came from all directions.

After announcing its new decision live on national television during U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, negativity came Calloway address through social networking sites.

"I have things saying they expect that interrupt my legs", Calloway said The TimesDaily. "I had death threats." They expect that I lose my scholarship. A lot of crazy things. The list goes on and en. I'm still going. I mean, for at least the next two or three days, it will be quite crazy. "After a week or less, it will die down and all is well until the signing day."

Nothing is official until February 2 when high school can sign the documents of the scholarship.

Calloway situation is not unique.

Offensive lineman Spencer Cullman, Alabama region also share a commitment of Alabama for one to Auburn last February. Then reopened again their recruitment and has yet to make another announcement about its future.

Also the support of most prestigious defensive back the nation outside of their plans to play in Alabama, before the signing period opened last February. Keenan Allen instead signed with California after changing their mind just days before becoming official.

Alabama has also benefited from the players that have underpinned commitments.

Orlando running back Dee Hart recently endorsed Michigan several months to give your floor that would be a next Wolverine season. He made the official announcement of their intentions in Tuscaloosa in bowl of All-American of army of the United States on Saturday.

Saban also assured defensive lineman Brandon Ivory one week before he signed with the tide but after he had promised the hometown Memphis would be a tiger.

Speaking at your conference press day signature 2010, Saban said that it is not a big fan of make public commitments too soon.

"When a boy is committed early for us, for me, then, are only the destination" Saban said without naming any incident. "All other schools kept recruiting and know that child will come to Alabama, so now Alabama attacks every day." If it is to get our graph of depth and say that we have too many players in that position. I don't know how all these other schools know about our team, because I know nothing about your computer, and they know more about our team that I know of our team.

“… It is incredible to me. We do not. "Us nonnegative recruit what we do."
