Crimson Tide softball game of Troy ends three Skid

To say that travel weekend of the tide Baton Rouge was as bad as you would expect it would be a massive understatement.  Alabama entered the series riding a streak of seven games, and as the # 1 ranked team in the country in both major polls and left Louisiana with its first series defeat of the season, swept for the first time since 2004 (also in the hands of LSU) and placed at # 3 in the polls.  It was also the first time in school history that the tide has scored one or fewer runs in four consecutive games (Alabama headed to South Carolina last weekend 1-0).  Pitcher Tiger Brittany Mack won the SEC pitcher of the Week honors for his performance:

Mack was a key component of Alabama ranked LSU sweep.  It was 2-0 with a robust 0.32 was and garnered 25 strikeouts in 22 frameworks of action. Round Rock, Texas, native won two of three victories in the circle on the tide featured a shutout of two hits with nine Ks during the end of the series. At one point, Mack retired 14 consecutive batters and marked only the second time in the season that the crime of Alabama high octane rating does not score. During the opening of the series, Mack smashed all 14 tickets and sold his career 14 strikeouts in an astonishing 234 releases. She stranded 16 runners of basis of Alabama, 10 in scoring position.

In addition, first baseman Anissa Young won both SEC Player of the week and national honors player week after cleansing with a solo shot homer victory Friday and encoring with two run shot to make the deal on Saturday night. His appearance was LSU being unranked # 19 in the polls.  We had a hat for the Tigers and sooner the better.  Speaking of...

The tide returned with a 5-2 on Troy victory last night in front of a crowd record of 1,351 fans at Troy softball complex.

Jackie Traina struck out eight and allowed two runs on four hits in six innings to earn the victory. Traina rebounded after allowing two runs in the first to withdraw to 16 in a row before giving to Kelsi Dunne. Dunne won his second save of the season on the strength of four strikeouts in an inning.

Alabama opened the scoring in the first with three runs on the scoreboard. Whitney Larsen has things with a shot of lines to the right field that was captured, but Braud was able to score from second on the progress of SAC. Cassie Reilly-Boccia then belted his ninth home run of the season when she took a departure from two launch on the wall.

After Troy scored two runs in the bottom of the first, Alabama was able to obtain a copy, which increased its lead to 4-2. Fenton was able to take their toll on the bases as she came in a single touch and then quickly stole second and third in the third inning. She was able to score when the shot sailed in left field in his attempt to stolen third base. The tide added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Jazlyn Lunceford a single to plate Kaila Hunt's second half. Hunt started the inning by drawing a walk and moved to second on a single by Locke.

Alabama Tuscaloosa again this weekend after a two-week trip to face Mississippi State in a three game series. The two teams will open the weekend on Friday with the first release scheduled for 6: 30 p.m.  If it is in the town day to consider stopping.  Rumors swirling on Twitter that Greg McElroy (or Trent Richardson, which doesn't make much sense) is going to launch the first release, so if someone can confirm that comment away.
